Cotati Dog Training offers a supportive, comprehensive and holistic approach to dog training. Our goal is to assist dog owners in effectively training their dogs while nurturing and strengthening the bond between dog and human in the process.
Often our dogs are trying to communicate in ways we may not fully understand. By creating relationship-based training strategies, clear communication methods, and a deeper understanding of how dogs perceive their world, we can change challenging or unwanted behavior, have dogs that listen, and create rewarding relationships with our dogs.
Training isn’t just for dogs—it’s for their people, too! With guidance, even behaviorally challenged dogs can become happy, well-adjusted family members.
MEET THE TRAINER
Helen Scorso has been training dogs since 2011. She is a Fear-Free Certified Trainer and a member of The Association For Professional Dog Training International. She is routinely referred by the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter in Rohnert Park, California to adopters as a reputable trainer and is part of their Pawsitive Solutions Training Program. Helen attends annual seminars to stay current on the latest scientific research and behavioral studies on effective, humane dog training methods.
Helen has been mentored by dog trainers internationally renowned for their expertise and progressive, humane training methods. Accordingly, her “game based” approach is extremely effective, gentle, respectful, and fun for dogs and their people alike.
Her canine companions include Bee, a Belgian Malinois, and Casper, a chocolate Labrador Retriever. She also shares her home with several cats.

Raising Confident, Happy & Obedient Puppies
Puppy raising is a critical time that can “make or break” a dog. Puppies need many positive or neutral experiences in the world to become resilient, well-adjusted, relaxed adult dogs; “game-based” obedience games must start early. This is the time to avoid forming unhealthy habits and ensure all puppies’ growing needs are met.
